Quick Needle Selection Guide
This is a general reference for common hand-sewing needles, not a list of the sizes or types included in this pack. The pack's contents are unchanged.
| Needle type & size | Thread | Project use |
|---|---|---|
| Embroidery / crewel 7–9, sharp point | 1–3 strands of embroidery floss | Everyday surface embroidery and fine details on cotton or linen |
| Embroidery / crewel 3–5, sharp point | 4–6 strands of floss or fine crewel wool | Bolder stitches and heavier embroidery |
| Tapestry 24–26, blunt point | Usually 2 strands of floss; match to fabric count | Counted cross stitch on 14–18-count Aida |
| Tapestry 18–22, blunt point | Thicker pearl cotton or yarn, matched to canvas | Needlepoint and open-weave canvas work |
Beginner starting point: For surface embroidery on medium-weight cotton, try a size 7 embroidery needle with 2 strands of floss. This is a general recommendation, not confirmation that size 7 is included in this pack.
Fit check: Choose an eye that threads easily and a shaft that passes through the fabric without force or lasting holes. Within the same needle type, higher numbers generally mean finer needles. Use a sharp point for woven fabric and a blunt tapestry point for counted work through existing holes.
